Dr. Kamla Kanodia was born and brought up in the holy city of Varanasi, where the majestic Ganges washes out the daily grind of life and brings into light the perfumed temples, exquisite muslin, and silk fabric, music, dance, literature and all the beauty of the ancient culture of India, for the people of Varanasi to be soaked in. Kamla Kanodia started the journey of her life in the atmosphere, where music, drama, and literature took the central part of her life. At a very early age, she started to contribute her writings to “Baal-Sansad” column (a column for children) of the famous newspaper “Aaj”.
In 1968 she earned her Ph.D. in Hindi Literature under the guidance of late Sri Krishna Lal, a very well-known figure in the history of Hindi Literature at the Banaras Hindu University. Later she became a full-time professor at the Mahant Darshan Das Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bihar University. While teaching at the college, she started a music school of her own – “Sri Krishna Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, where many students trained in music and dance. She also sang, acted, and wrote for television programs produced by Muzaffarpur Doordarshan.
Dr. Kamala Kanodia has published many poetry collections. She also writes for various Indian magazines and newspapers.
