Sarada Nori
Performer and founder/artistic director of Layavinyasa school
Sarada Nori Akella is an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer and the founder/Director of LayaVinyasa .She is a disciple of Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar, son of the pre-eminent master Dr.Vempati Chinna Satyam . Sarada has imbibed the nuances of Kuchipudi at Kuchipudi Art Academy –Chennai and Nritya Kinnera Arts Theatre ,Hyderabad for over 15 years.
As a solo and a character artiste in Kuchipudi Dance Dramas, Sarada has performed at events organized by Sangeet Natak Academy, Department of Culture (Govt. of Andhra Pradesh), Sanskara Bharathi Siddhendra Yogi Festival (Kuchipudi village), Dassera festival (Tirupati) and at the Margazhi Festival (Chennai Music & Dance festival conducted annually in December/January). Sarada was sponsored by the Government of India to perform in Kuchipudi dance ballets in Singapore and Mauritius.
Sarada Nori is the founder and artistic director of Layavinyasa, a school that propagates Kuchipudi and Carnatic classical music. She has been a part of prestigious festivals such as the International Festival of Arts and Ideas at Yale, conducted workshops and demonstrations at YMCA Vernon, Manchester Community College and The Hartford Public Library .Sarada holds a Masters degree in Arts, specializing in Kuchipudi and explores creative learning methods to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. Her school focuses on sharing these ancient forms with multicultural audiences. Sarada co-authored the book “Digital – Diasporas: Labor and Affect in Gendered Indian Digital Publics “ with Dr.Radhika Gajjala, Chattopadhyay, Shobha .S.V and Sneha P.P.Her article ” Nṛtyavinōda -A compendious account of dance as a royal pastime” on ‘Manasollasa’ , a 12th Century text was published as part of Swar Bharati November 2019 by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
