Singer, composer, writer, and educator, Shahzad Anjum, also known as Sur Dost, studied classical Indian music with Ustad Jalil Ghori, a disciple of Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan of Patiala Gharana. Shahzad has numerous musical albums to his credit. He has written and composed many songs, and most of them are popular in Pakistan and abroad. He also has contributed extensively to the Church music. The songs from his audio albums, dedicated to the church, “Jab Hath Uthain”. “Yesu Ky Dost Bano”. “Aasmano Hamd gao”, are widely sung and performed. Shahzad’s versatile music repertoire consists of Classical music with its traditional purity, light classical music (Ghazal, Thumri, etc.), Folk music genres of Punjab, and the Church Music.
In addition to composing and performing, Shahzad is sincerely devoted to teaching music. He has students from all over the world and some of them have made their place in the music field. He has worked as a Master Teaching Artist in the schools of Pakistan. He has written many musical articles, commentaries, and critique for the magazines, newspapers, and for educational purposes. Currently, Shahzad is working on his forthcoming books for music lovers and poetry lovers. Furthermore, Shahzad Anjum’s interest lies in designing, which has led him to study advanced computer skills. Besides performing, composing, writing, and teaching, in his free time he is also a web designer.
