WMSDF is an exploration of movement and creativity for students, educators, and anyone looking to enrich and deepen his or her understanding of the moving body and the creative process. Under Artistic Director Laura Glenn, WMSDF offers an internationally recognized innovative and comprehensive approach that combines specialized training, personal attention, and hands-on instruction. Nine faculty members work together to present a cohesive curriculum with more than 12 hours of instruction daily. All classes are taught by gifted educators committed to helping participants reach their maximum potential in dance and movement artistry. It is a program that supports breakthroughs in technique, creativity, and life. Enrollment is limited to 40 resident participants to ensure a four-to-one student-to-faculty ratio.
At WMSDF, full-time participants can attend all of the classes and workshops we offer and experience the full range of possibilities at the festival. In addition to technique and theory classes, participants can take one repertory and one composition class each day, and they have the opportunity to perform repertory in the weekend concert series.
Most participants choose to maximize their time at the festival by attending all classes. But we also believe that the festival should meet individual needs, and so have designed the festival to be flexible. Participants can choose to tailor the curriculum to meet their individual goals.
